3rd Skiing Adventure!

Back to where it all started… Elk Mountain! Katie and I took advantage of a beautiful (although very cold) day on the mountain. Arriving around 12:30 and hitting the slopes around 1:00, it was a balmy 21 degrees at the lodge. A temperature that sank to 18 degrees at the peak, and sank even lower, to around 12 degrees by 6:00 that night! The wind was whipping at the top like I never felt it before! Fortunately, after traversing down the mountain a few hundred yards, we were in the tree line and the wind dissipated. Also, my proper skiing attire kept me warm most of the day. It wasn’t until around 6:30 that I decided to call it a day, when the cold had finally worked its way to my toes and fingers.

There was a race taking place when we arrived, so the place was jam packed! Getting a locker was no problem, however, finding a place to sit to suit up, well, that took some navigating. The mountain was very populated until around 4:30ish, then things settled down, and I could take several leisurely strolls down the slopes without worrying about getting run over by out-of-control snowboarders! We’re not sure when we’ll get back on a mountain, as this week is rainy and in the 50s. Hopefully we’ll get some more cold air and snow before the end of March! Some pics and a video montage are below for your viewing pleasure! Thanks to Katie for taking the pictures & videos of me skiing!
